Amnesty International - updateWritten by Carole Cox
Human Rights Day is 10 December and in normal times the local Amnesty group would be hosting a card writing evening in the hall lounge.
Instead, this year there will be the two cards at the back of the Church during Advent for people to add their names and sign, as we have done in other years. The cards will be sent to two teenagers: a Belarussian boy jailed for five years despite no evidence, and a Palestinian girl being harassed and threatened for publicising racism – there will be more information with the cards. These cards are sent to show support for individuals and groups enduring human rights abuses.
We will have a stall in the Market Square on the morning of Saturday 11 December; please visit us for more information and further cards to sign.
